So You Want To Publish A Book.

Self-publishing a book is both an amazing experience and a lot of work. It takes time, money, and dedication to move from an idea to a published printed book that you can hold in your hands (or download to your Kindle).

I've done it twelve times (for myself--more if you count the people I've worked with), and while it does get easier, one thing doesn't change: it feels amazing.

Getting Started

There are two questions I get regularly for people considering self-publishing:

  1. Is self-publishing right for me?
  2. How do I get started?

As a result, I now offer coaching services to help you decide whether self-publishing is right for you, and guide you down the path towards publication.

I offer consultations in half-hour or full-hour blocks, either in-person (if we are in the same general area) or over the phone. You can schedule one call, simply to see if self-publishing is right for you, or you can schedule regular calls for tips, motivation, and to help push you and your project over the finish line. I also offer resources for finding cover designers and editors, as well as simple guidance on writing if you're having difficulty moving forward.

My approach is strategic, goal-oriented, and aimed at getting your book published, the way you want.

So what exactly will you get out of working with me? I can help you:

  • Decide whether to self-publish, work with a local publisher, or publish traditionally.
  • Create a strategic approach with step-by-step assistance so you know what needs to happen and when.
  • Access resources for finding cover designers, formatters, e-book designers, editors, and more.
  • Learn about distributors who can help you share your e-book and hard copy book with the world.
  • Build and follow through with a DIY marketing plan.
  • Take the first steps towards setting up a website, social media sites, and more.
  • Know what to spend money on during the process, and where you can save a few pennies.
  • Self-publish a book.

My fee is $40/hour (which you can expense for taxes), and for any other services that I might be able to help you with, we can negotiate a fair rate.

To find out if this might work for you, please fill out the form below and I will get back to you as soon as I can.

I do not sell email addresses to any entity, and I will not add your email address to my newsletter or any other newsletter without your express permission.

My Background

So, who am I? Good question.

I am the author of science fiction series The Sagittan Chronicles, and the children's book series, Rutherford the Unicorn Sheep. I also have a variety of short stories published in different magazines and anthologies, and will be beginning the release of my new serial Land of Szörnyek this year. I also write website and marketing copy, judge short stories, and ghost write as part of my repertoire. I have an Associates of Science in Liberal Arts from Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY, and a Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Literature from the University of North Carolina, and I have 6 years of professional experience in content writing and online marketing.

I have worked with over two dozen clients on self-publishing one or more books, and have given presentations on how to self-publish a book , blogging, and marketing at libraries all over Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts. If you would like me to come to your library, ask your librarian to contact me.

Up until early 2017, I lived in New Hampshire, but my husband I have since moved to Baltimore with our dog and three cats (I am both a dog and a cat person). I enjoy walking (all over, I can walk for hours at a time), exploring, hiking, turtles, the birds at the park and at my birdfeeder, reading, drawing, baking, and not killing a variety of house and outdoor plants.

"I started working with Ariele Sieling six months ago. In that time, I have finished third-round revisions on my novel of 60,000 words, sent it to beta readers, and now am working on final revisions. I've also started a blog, learned how to make the most of the tools on my Facebook author page, and learned many other self-marketing techniques. Ariele has taught me strategies for time management, and has a positive attitude that is infectious."
- Roberta Branca, author

"As far as putting together a book, essentially from start to finish, you are the “Best”. You took a bunch of bits and pieces and helped me organize them into an interesting book for my grandchildren. I never would have published this book without you."
- Dr. Richard Fralick,

"Ariele has been an invaluable asset in the entire production of my self-published book, THE SACRED SHED ON THE EDGE OF THE RAVINE. I found her responsive, careful, and accessible. Whenever I needed her, she was there to guide me through the ins and out of book publishing. And her knowledge of the self-publishing, online world of Amazon and Createspace makes the entire process so much less daunting. I couldn't have done it without her."
